After another top-three finish on the national stage, Seminole State College women's golf enters the 2026-27 season with a familiar goal: bringing the national championship trophy back to Sanford.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Christa Teno, now entering her 20th season, the Raiders remain one of the premier programs in NJCAA Division I women's golf. Seminole State has captured five national championships since 2015, including an impressive run of four consecutive titles in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. While the Raiders have remained among the nation's elite, the mission this season is simple: return to the top of the podium.
Looking Back at 2025-26
Seminole State opened the 2025-26 campaign with a runner-up finish at the SSC Fall Warm-Up at Rio Pinar Golf Club and spent the remainder of the season firmly in the national conversation. The Raiders were consistently ranked among the top programs in the country, spending much of the spring at No. 3 in the NJCAA Division I rankings.
The postseason once again showcased the program's championship pedigree. Seminole State captured the FCSAA/NJCAA Southeast District Championship at Mystic Dunes Golf Club, winning by 11 strokes to earn an automatic berth to the NJCAA National Championship.
At nationals in Coal Valley, Illinois, the Raiders made a strong charge during the final round, posting the tournament's best team score on the final day to climb from fifth place into third. Seminole State held off Weatherford College but ultimately fell just short of Daytona State and Odessa College in a tightly contested championship race. Freshman Darcie West led the Raiders individually, tying for sixth place and establishing herself as one of the top young players in the country.
A Talented Core Returns
While the Raiders graduated valuable experience, the foundation for another championship run is firmly in place.
Sophomores Darcie West, Megan Fallon, and Kate Yarem return after gaining significant experience throughout their freshman seasons. Each competed against the nation's best and played key roles in Seminole State's third-place national finish. West, in particular, demonstrated the ability to contend under pressure, delivering one of the program's top individual finishes at the national championship.
The returning core will be joined by an exciting freshman class that brings both talent and depth to the roster. Saskia Owen arrives with a reputation as a proven winner, while Lili-Rose Hunt's consistency and precision should make an immediate impact. Rio Nakama brings energy and competitiveness to the lineup, and Meyher Khoklar's aggressive style of play adds another dimension to an already talented squad.
Storylines to Watch
The Daytona State Rivalry
Few rivalries in NJCAA women's golf carry more significance than Seminole State and Daytona State. The two Florida powers have battled for conference, district, and national championships for years, and every meeting between the Region VIII rivals will serve as a measuring stick throughout the season.
A Challenging Fall Schedule
The Raiders will once again test themselves against strong competition during the fall season. Seminole State is expected to open the year by hosting the SSC Fall Warm-Up at Rio Pinar before traveling to prestigious events such as Wofford's Terrier Intercollegiate, the Saint Leo Invitational, and Florida International University's Pat Bradley Invitational. Competing against four-year programs provides valuable experience and helps prepare the Raiders for postseason play.
Championship Expectations
The expectations surrounding Seminole State women's golf have never changed. The Raiders are measured by championships, and this year's roster has the talent and experience necessary to compete for another one.
With a battle-tested sophomore class, an impressive group of newcomers, and one of the most accomplished coaches in NJCAA history leading the way, Seminole State enters the 2026-27 season poised to make another run at a national title.
The journey begins this fall, but the destination is already clear: a return to the top of NJCAA women's golf.
