SANFORD, Florida - With weather looming over the weekend, Seminole State Softball was looking for a quick result on Friday. Thanks to Tori Beland's (cover photo, 2-0, 5IP, 0H, 2K) perfect game, the Raiders won a quick game 1, 8-0 in 5 innings. The Raiders finally found some offense in the sixth and won game 2, 6-3 in 7 innings.
Offensively, SSC was led in game 1 by Izabell LaRoche (2-2, 1R, 1BB), Lindsay Corazzini (2-3, 1R, 1RBI), Cassidy Ross (2-3, 1R) and Kiara Beltre (pictured right, 1-3, 4RBI, 1R) whose grandslam in the bottom of the second broke open the game.
Game 2 was a little closer than the Blue and Gold would have liked. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead through one, the Panthers continued to battle back and eventually tie the game at 3 in the fifth inning. SSC plated 3 in the bottom of the sixth to ice the game. Beltre and Hailey Werning both collected three hits for the Seminole offense. Grace Thomas picked up the win (2-0, 3.1IP, 2H, 1K).
SSC's will travel on Tuesday to Florida State College of Jacksonville, a game that was postponed from February 6. The Raiders will then host the annual CMI event presented by Orlando Health over the weekend at Boombah Soldiers Creek. A link to the complete CMI lineup can be found on the schedule page and within this story. Tickets are $10 daily ($5 for seniors and youth) and can be purchased (cash only) at the gate.
