CLEARWATER, Florida - The Seminole State Softball Team earned a split on Saturday at the annual JUCO Kickoff Tournament in Clearwater. The Raiders played in two one-run games. Cassidy Ross (1-0) got the win, 4-3 over Patrick & Henry Community College in game 1. Grace Thomas picked up the save. Avery Brewer was the only Raider with multiple hits (2), scoring a run and collecting an RBI. Anna Green (1-3) had two RBI.
Seminole dropped game 2 to St. Johns River State College, 6-5. The Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead through 4 and 1/2, but couldn't stop a 4-run rally by the Vikings in the bottom of the fifth. Samantha Titzel (0-1) got the loss in her first college appearance.
SSC will travel to Avon Park, FL for a Thursday doubleheader (4 p.m.) vs. South Florida State College and a Friday doubleheader (12 noon) at Lake Sumter State College. Lake Sumter will also host the Raider baseball team on Friday (1 p.m.).
