Clermont, FLORIDA - The Seminole State Softball team fell to the two-time defending NJCAA (and #3 ranked) National Champion Florida SouthWestern, 9-4. Â
SSC jumped out to an early lead, plating two runs in the top of the first.
Lindsay Corazzini hit a lead off with a single and
Angelina Badalaments' sharp hit to shortstop lead to a fielding error. Both advanced on an error by the FSW catcher.
Avery Brewer drove Corazzini with a hit to left.
Taylor Malz reached on an error, scoring Badalament. FSW countered with one in the bottom of the first.
FSW capitalized on four Raider fielding errors to score three in the third and three in the fourth and take a 7-2 lead. The Raiders got two back in the top of the fifth, but left the bases loaded. The Bucs collected another two in the sixth to close the scoring.
The Raiders will next face Indian River in the losers' bracket of the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 tournament on Sunday, May 7 at 10 a.m at the National Training Center in Clermont.
