TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Congrats to Taylor Thomas, Angelina Badalament and Paige Weinmann for being selected to the FCSAA All-State Team. From the FCSAA Release:

The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has announced its 2022 All-State/NJCAA All-Region 8 Softball Teams. 

The 17-member first- and second-teams, as well as the FCSAA Player and Pitcher of the Year, were voted on by members of the FCSAA State Softball Committee.

FCSAA First-team All-State/NJCAA All-Region 8

FCSAA Player of the Year
Georgia Hood, Pensacola State
Fr. | At-Large | Mt. Gambier, Australia  

Voted the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year, Hood led Pensacola State to the PC Championship and a No. 2 Region 8/No. 11 NJCAA ranking to end the regular season. She currently leads Region 8 with 62 RBI (had a season-high eight vs. USC-Union) and is fourth with a .450 batting average. She started the season with an 11-game hit streak and reached base safely in the Pirates' first 18 games. Hood also starred in the circle for Pensacola State, posting a record of 11-2 and a 1.48 ERA. In 66.1 innings pitched, she struck out 83 and did not allow a home run. Hood is a two-time Region 8 Player of the Week recipient. She's one of two at-large members on the All-State/All-Region 8 team.

FCSAA Pitcher of the Year
Baylee Haggard, Florida SouthWestern
So. | RHP | Naples, Fla. 

The Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year, Haggard anchors the pitching staff for the nation's top-ranked team. Her 22 (22-1) wins is tops in Region 8 and tied for third in the nation while her 1.20 ERA ranks second in the Region. Haggard was nearly untouchable in Suncoast Conference play, going a perfect 9-0 in nine starts while chalking up a 0.74 ERA in 47 innings pitched. Her impressive 13-1 record in non-conference action includes wins over Northwest Florida State, Southern Idaho, Salt Lake, Louisburg and Chipola. She was named Region 8 Pitcher of the Week on April 19 and received NJCAA Pitcher of the Week honors the following day. Haggard is one of four pitchers on the All-State/All-Region 8 team.
