Runnin' Raiders Start Year 2 With Coach Morgan

SANFORD, Florida – Coach Tucker Morgan, who begins his second year at the helm of the Women's and Men's Cross Country teams at Seminole State College announced the fall 2023 schedule for his Runnin' Raiders. It has been a busy first year for Morgan. The Men's team finished 26th in the NJCAA, the second top 30 finish since the program was brought back in 2018 (16th in 2019). Morgan has also started a Track Club for students at Seminole State.

With all the positives, Coach Morgan released the fall schedule which included the Beach Relays in Daytona, the Valdosta State Border Clash and another trip to Daytona for Embry-Riddles Classic. SSC is looking for one other event at the start of October.

The Raiders will travel to Tallahassee for the FCSAA Region 8 meet taking place on Florida State's famed home course at Apalachee Regional Park. The meet will be on Tuesday, October 24th. The NJCAA National meet will be in Huntsville, AL on November 11th.

RAIDER NOTES:

  • The Men's Team finished 26th in the NJCAA in 2023
  • During the 2019 season, the men's team finished 16th at the NJCAA National meet
  • 33 Raider Student-Athletes were named Academic All Conference for 2022-23 and 16 achieved Academic All American Status.
  • Raider Athletics has generated close to $1,000,000 in economic impact to Seminole County since 2017.

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College lives by the Mission of "preparing Raiders for their Next Steps in Life." "Next steps" can include moving on with an athletic scholarship to a four-year university, an AA or AS degree or preparing to finish a bachelors' degree at Seminole State.

The Raiders were established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.  Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
