Golf Finishes Sixth at Jupiter Women's Invitational

Raiders Shoot Final Round 290

JUPITER, Florida - The Seminole State Women's Golf Team finished sixth out of 9 teams at the Jupiter Women's Invitational.

Coach Christa Teno liked how they finished on Tuesday, but not much else. 
"We didn't play very well on Monday," noted Teno. "We were vastly improved on Tuesday. Lot of youth on this team. We'll get better."Pearl at Jupiter

Finishers for the Raiders:
    - Rim Imni - 223 +13 (T21)
    
- Poppy Harrington - 223, +13 (T21)
    - "Pearl" Banthita Phoncharatkun - 225, +15 (T25) - pictured right   
    - Salysa Mason - 226 +16 (T29)
    - Ayami Takahashi - 231 +21 (T34)

    - Tabitha Hanely (as an individual) - 236 +26 (T42)
   
There was a former Raider also in the field. Grace Connelly who is now with the Lamar University team shot 230 and finished 33rd.  

Next up for Seminole State is the Palm Beach Invitational, October 10 and 11 with a practice round on the October 9. 

RAIDER NOTES:
  • The Raiders won National Championships in 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2015
  • Seminole State Golf has finished in the top 3 in the Nation every year since 2009 and was #1 in the NJCAA at the time of cancellation of the 2019-20 season
  • The 2022 National Championships were hosted by Seminole State College at Mayfair Country Club (May 9-12).
  • The four Sophomores from the 2022 team all committed to playing at NCAA Division I Universities 
  • The 2022-23 team returns one All-Americans from 2021-22 (Ayami Takahashi)
  • Coach Christa Teno was named LPGA Coach of the Year (2018) and inducted into the NJCAA Golf Hall of Fame (May 2017)

About the Seminole State Raiders:

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College was established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.  Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
