Women's Golf Ready for Stetson Tournament

DELAND, Florida - The Babs Steffens Invitational is one the most prestigious tournaments in the nation. The Seminole State Raiders want to add to their rich legacy with a solid performance at the DeBary Country Club. The tournament will be Monday and Tuesday (Sunday practice round starting at 10:36 for SSC). Teams playing will include Jacksonville, Bucknell, Stetson, Seton Hall and St. Johns University to name a few.

The SSC starters are:
Leonie Krausse will compete as an individual.

Seminole finished 3rd out of 9 teams in 2024 and 4th out of 13 in 2023. 

Next up after Stetson, the Raiders will play in Western Kentucky's tournament at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, FL, March 16-18.

RAIDER NOTES:
  • The Raiders have won National Championships in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2015
  • Seminole State Golf has finished in the top 3 in the Nation every year since 2009 and was #1 in the NJCAA at the time of cancelation of the 2019-20 season (Covid)
  • The 2022 National Championships were hosted by Seminole State College at Mayfair Country Club (May 9-12)
  • All three Sophomores from the 2024 team committed to playing at four-year Universities (Salysa Mason, Florida International; Rim Imni, Cincinnati; Tabitha Hanely, Flagler College) 
  • The 2024-25 spring team returns one All-American from 2023-24 (Jane Huang)
  • Coach Christa Teno was named LPGA Coach of the Year (2018) and inducted into the NJCAA Golf Hall of Fame (May 2017)

About the Seminole State Raiders:

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College lives by the Mission of "preparing Raiders for their Next Steps in Life." "Next steps" can include moving on with an athletic scholarship to a four-year university, an AA or AS degree or preparing to finish a bachelors' degree at Seminole State.

The Raiders were established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.  Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
