Cross Country Off to Region 8 Championships

SANFORD, Florida - The end of the inaugural (after 38 years off) is coming fast. Both teams will be heading to Tallahassee for Friday's FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Championship.

Pasco-Hernando State College has won the last two women's cross country state championship last year on October 28 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Running on the same course where the NCAA has awarded the 2021 Cross Country Championships, the Bobcats had five of the top eight finishers in the 37-person field, successfully defending its team championship with 25 points in the scoring. South Florida State College was a distant second place with 67 points, finishing just ahead of Tallahassee Community College, who had 69 points. Florida State College at Jacksonville, new to the sport in 2017, came in fourth (86 points) followed by Chipola College (123 points).

The Raiders are running without full teams on both the men's and women's side due to the late start as Coach Clark was hired in May. Coach Clark will be looking for continued progress from each runner. His plan is to take four individuals (two from the women's team and two from the men's) to the National Championship in Kansas on November 10th.

The men's 8K will begin at 8am and women's 5K at 9am on Friday, October 26th.  Awards will be presented at 9:45am.
