Raider Student-Athletes Surpass 3.2 G.P.A.

9th Semester in last 13 to Achieve a 3.0

SANFORD, Florida - The Seminole State Student-Athletes achieved an overall GPA of 3.22 for the fall, surpassing the department-wide goal of 3.0 for the 9th time in 13 semesters. Twenty-nine of the 69 Student-Athletes are on pace for the NJCAA Academic All-American team (3.6 and above) and 11 had a perfect 4.0.

Director of Athletics, Kurt Esser stated, "what a great Christmas present! I'm so proud of our Raiders. Congrats and thank you to our coaches and academic/administrative team who push our kids. Also a shout out to our professors and instructors who help prepare our students for their next steps."

RAIDER NOTES:

  • 33 Raider Student-Athletes were named Academic All Conference for 2022-23 and 16 achieved Academic All American Status
  • Coach Courtney Miller won her 1,200 career Softball game on April 6, 2023
  • The 2021 Baseball Team qualified for the NJCAA Region 8 Championships
  • The Raider Women's Golf Team has won National Championships in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2015
  • The Women's Cross Country Team finished 20th in 2023
  • The Men's Cross Country Team finished 26th in the NJCAA in 2022
  • Raider Athletics has generated close to $1,000,000 in economic impact to Seminole County since 2017

About the Seminole State Raiders:

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College lives by the Mission of "preparing Raiders for their Next Steps in Life." "Next steps" can include moving on with an athletic scholarship to a four-year university, an AA or AS degree or preparing to finish a bachelors' degree at Seminole State.

The Raiders were established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.  Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
