SANFORD, Florida - Tyler Van Dyke had his best pitching performance of the season on Monday. But the talk will probably center around the six home runs the Raiders knocked out of the Jack in the 13-3 run rule game (6 innings). Van Dyke threw a "complete game," allowing three runs on only three hits and striking out eight.
It was the Seminole offense that stole the show however. Hunter Noblitt, Luke Hatcher and Kishon Frett all hit solo homeruns in the first inning as SSC jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Christian Webbs cracked one out in the fifth and Bryan Morales and Jack Speights (the game winner) cleared the bases in the sixth. SSC plated five runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 13-3 and end the game.
The Raiders were 9th in the NJCAA in homerun, after Monday's outburst they will be moving up.
The Raiders will travel to Daytona State College on Wednesday (2 p.m.) in the first game of the series. Seminole will host the Falcons on Friday at the Jack (1 p.m.).
