SANFORD, Florida - Under the lights of Historic Sanford Stadium, the Seminole State pitching staff definitely shined. The offense opened the game with a 4-run first inning and the Raiders defeated Pasco Hernando State College, 5-2 on Monday night.
Michael Guerrero (3-0) got the win in a limited start. The big right-hander threw 10 strikeouts (2 H, 1 BB) in four innings of work and is scheduled to start on Saturday. Brendan Parks came on in middle relief with only his second outing in a month. Parks struck out 6 but did allow two unearned runs. Dylan Luna came in and collected his third save in the two and two-thirds of an inning appearance.
In a pivotal play in the eighth, Jaylen Young chased down a fly ball in right center, then doubled up the Bobcats. Christian Webb and Kishon Frett combined on the 8-4-3 double play.
On the offensive side, Frett smacked a solo homerun in the third and joined Webb (2) and Cade Brewer in collecting RBI in the first inning onslaught.
The Raiders will host Florida State College of Jacksonville on Wednesday (2 p.m.) in the last game prior to the start of Mid-Florida Conference play. Seminole will host St. Johns River on Saturday in the conference opener (1 p.m.).
