Raider Defeat LSSC; Fall to IRSC

SANFORD, Florida - The Seminole State Baseball team had a mixed result weekend. The Raiders dropped Lake Sumter State College on Friday, 8-3. On Saturday, SSC was cruising with a 6-2 lead through seven over Indian River, but couldn't take advantage of Carter Krawchuk's (right, 7 IP, 5H, 5BB, 3K) excellent start.

Seminole gave up four runs in the eighth and allowed another five in the top of the 10th for the 11-6 final. The Pioneers of  IRSC have now won six straight. It was the first home loss for the Raiders who have trailed 2-0 in 6 of 9 games.

Nic Pepe hit an inside-the-park homerun to spark a four-run second inning. The Raider's bats were pretty quite after collecting two more runs in the third.Carter Krawchuk

On Friday, Ethan Salak (2-0) settled down after allowing 2-runs in the first and completed 6 innings. The right-hander from Myrtle Beach, SC struck out seven and allowed one walk one. Connor Hensley picked up his first save of the season. Hensley scattered two hits over two innings and collected two strikeouts.

The offense pounded out 15 hits to defeat the always tenacious Lake Sumter State Lakehawks, 8-3. Leading the offense was Nic Pepe (3-5, 2R, 1 2B, 1 SB), Danny Ramirez (3-5, 1R, 1 2B, 1RBI), Dillon Costello (2-3, 1RBI) and Johnnie Lopez knocked the games only homerun in the eighth to seal the victory.

The Raiders will travel to the Polk State Eagles on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and the State College of Florida Manatees on Thursday also at 5 p.m. Thursday's game will be the opening game in the new Citrus Conference. The Manatees will return the trip on Saturday for a doubleheader. Game 1 at 12 noon (7 innings) and game 2 (9 innings) will start after a short break. Conference play is scheduled for Thursday and Saturdays (DH) the rest of the season.
