SANFORD, Florida - On a picture perfect "winter" day in Florida, the Seminole State Baseball team opened their home schedule with a dominating 13-2 non-conference game over the Daytona State Falcons. After a shaky start allowing two runs in the first inning, Garrett Brewer (right, 5 IP, 5H, 2R, 5 SO) settled in for his first victory of the year. The Raiders over came the two-run deficit in the bottom of the first with three of their own. SSC plated another run in the third before the flood gates opened with seven runs in the fourth.
The offense was lead by Danny Ramirez (cover photo, 2-2, 2Dbl, 3RBI, 1R); Dillon Costello (2-4, 2RBI, 1R); Jhoander Irigoyen (2-3, 2R, 1RBI, 1BB) and newcomer Paul Napolitano (3-3, 2R, 1 RBI)Â
Conor Hensley came on in the sixth for an inning of one-hit relief and Mason Hutsell finished the game in the seventh allowing two walks and striking out two.
The Raiders will travel to Lake Sumter State College on Friday at 1 p.m. and St. Petersburg College on Saturday 1 p.m.
