SANFORD, Florida - The Seminole State Baseball team defeated the Santa Fe Saints 3-2 (10 innings) on Saturday. The Raiders (16-11, 1-2 MFC) stopped the Saints (26-1, 2-1 MFC) win streak at 26. Jhoander Irigoyen (right) received the Qdoba Player of the Game award for hitting the game winning RBI, but this was a total team effort.
Three SSC pitchers combined for 9 (out of 10) innings of shutout baseball. The Saints had been averaging double digit runs over the previous four games. Tyler Van Dyke threw six innings, scattering two runs on four hits and striking out four. Michael Marrero came on in relief for two innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout. Blake D'Arville (2-2) got the win with two hitless innings.
Seminole was scheduled to host Indian River in a non-conference match up on Monday, the game has been cancelled due to weather. The Raiders will open the next series with College of Central Florida on Wednesday in Ocala at 3 p.m.
