SANFORD, Florida - The Seminole State Baseball team won its third straight game on Monday with a 17-3 defeat of Lake Sumter State College. Ethan Salak (cover photo) picked up his first win for the Raiders.
Salak, a transfer from St. Johns River, scattered three runs on three hits over 7 innings while striking out 11 LawkHawk batters. Trevor Meaike threw two innings of relief, striking out two and not allowing a hit.
SSC offense was alive with 15 hits and 8 walks. The Raiders plated four runs in the second, a run in the third and two more in the fourth. After LSSCÂ scored a run in the top of the 7th, Seminole exploded for 10 after the stretch to put the game on ice. The Blue and Gold has averaged over 12 runs per game during the current three-game win streak.
Jhoander Irigoyen (3-5, 2R, 2RBI), Cade Brewer (2-4, 3R, 2RBI, 1BB), Ryan Recio (2-3, 3R, 4RBI, 1HR, 2BB), Danny Ramirez (2-5, 2R, 2RBI) and Carlos Lopez (3-5, 2R, 2RBI, right) all had multiple hits for the the Raiders.Â
Seminole State will travel to Lake Sumter on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. game, then return home for a 1 p.m. Friday game vs. Polk State College. On Saturday, SSC will host CCBC Catonsville (MD.) for a doubleheader starting at noon.
