Baseball Drops Mid-Florida Opener

SANFORD, Florida - The Seminole State Baseball lost the Mid-Florida Conference opener 7-6 to Lake-Sumter State College on Monday. Four errors by SSC lead to four runs for the LakeHawks.

The Raiders did not get the bats going until the bottom of the ninth, scoring four runs to close the gap to the final (7-6).


Rese Brown (5 2/3 IP, 5R, 8K, 2 ) dropped the decision, falling to 2-1. JC Sewell threw 1 2/3 innings, striking out 4 and walking three.

Jack Speights earned Qdoba Player of the Game with a 2-run double while pinch hitting in the ninth.

The team will travel to Lake-Sumter State Col
lege on Wednesday at 2 p.m and return home on Friday at 1 p.m. to close out the series vs. the LakeHawks. Fans are not allowed at on-campus games. The game will be streamed via @buildingRaiders twitter account.

RAIDER NOTES:

  • Fans will not be permitted at on-campus games during the 2021 Season
  • The 2019 team finished 35-14, including a 21-9 record at "The Jack" (home)
