Baseball Defeats Eastern Florida

SANFORD, Florida - In the last non-conference game of the early spring, Seminole State Baseball defeated the Eastern Florida State Titans, 9-4. Garrett Hester (1-2), the left hander from Archie, MO picked up his first win of the year. The Freshman threw six innings, striking out six while giving up three runs on four hits.

SSC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a couple of hits by Marcos Sevillano (2-4, 2R, 1BB) and Edgar Alvarez (2-4, 2R, 1BB). They were plated by Luke Hatcher (1-4, 2RBI) and Christian Webb, respectively after a wild pitch by the Titans pitcher moved the two Raiders into scoring position. Things went quite for the Seminole offense and EFSC manufactured a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The fifth inning suicide squeeze by the Titans was a thing of beauty and leveled the score.

In the bottom of the sixth, Corey King (1-5, 4 RBI) knocked a grand slam to left center. The Raiders padded the lead with three more in the eight.

Rese Brown (3K), Luke Dexterhouse (2K) and Andrew Spolyar (1k, 3H) all collected an inning of work in prep for the Mid-Florida Conference grind.

The team will host Lake-Sumter State Col
lege on Monday at 2 p.m and again on Friday (traveling to Leesburg on Wednesday). Fans are not allowed at on-campus games. The game will be streamed via @buildingRaiders twitter account.
