Raiders beat Titans, 4-1

Rese Brown notches the win

SANFORD, Florida - Seminole State scored in the first and second innings and cruised to a 4-1 win over the visiting Titans from Eastern Florida State College. Rese Brown (right) got his second start of the young season and picked up his first win. The 6 foot right-hander from Lake Brantley High School (by way of USF) was stellar. Brown threw 6 innings, allowed the only run (6th inning) while scattering a walk and 3 hits, striking out six.Brown, Rese

Corey King drove in Jaylen Youngs (walk) in the bottom of the first to give the Raiders an early 1-0 lead. SSC added to that total in the second. Christian Webb, Luke Hatcher and Allende Gil loaded the bases. Angelo Ramirez' zinger to right field made it 2-0. Hatcher scored on a passed ball and Seminole lead 3-0.

Youngs (walk) scored again in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Edgar Alvarez with the bases loaded. It felt like the Raiders should have got a few more. But after the Titans answered in the top of the sixth, Luke Dexterhouse came on in relief with a three up three down seventh. Andrew Spolyar picked up his second save of the year, coming on with two outs in the eighth and closing out the ninth.

The Raiders will travel to Melbourne on Saturday for a 1 p.m. showdown with the same Titans. Seminole will return "home" on Monday with a 6 p.m. start at historic Sanford Stadium. Fans will be allowed for this game and admission is free. The game will not be streamed.
